I went to the pet store this morning and they told me that something was eating the fins off from thier sharks it is some kind they look like they have ick to me she has them treated for that but it isnt what is doinf that to thier fins they started that before the ick broke out she said they got a bad bunch this time you ll should see them I have never seen nothing like it. they dont have any fin nippers in thier just balas and black and rainbows and red tails.that is all thats in thier she wanted me to ask you guys about it.

Is there any chance it is fin and tail rot? I don't even know if they get it...

If you save her sharks are they gonna give you a lifetime discount? J/K

Wish I could be of more help. :-(
I would think a good antibiotic like a Maracyn wouldn't hurt. -_-

I already get a ten percent discount these people are just getting started they had a run of bad luck the flood waters got them and they lost everything they had almost and had to restock on most of thier stuff. its not fin and tail rot it is like you can go sdown thier in the morning and they have one whole fin and you can go back 3 hours later and it is almost gone i think it is fish lice but i am just guessing i know they have ick but they have something else besides the ick.

Most fin disorders, if not ich or nipping, are either a bacteria, parasite, or too high Ph. Look here for help. I am not trying to say your on your own, :*) we're here to help, but when the trouble is a couple people away, time is wasted communicating. Fishies may be too ill for that.

Again have them try tetracycline by Mardel. If they are not using a Mardel product, they will need to do a 50% water change followed by a few hours of filtering with carbon prior to using the tetracycline!!!

Keep us posted!!

can you put that medicine in with the ick medicine

As long as the ich medication is Mardel's maracude...yes you can!!!!

Mardel medications are made to be used inconjuction with each other!!

If the ich med is NOT made by Mardel then follow the above procedure and things will be ok!!

You should tell your LFS to join the forum that way there is no lost time in communicating
I did I gave her the web site and everything and she said she didnt have time to do it I have been calling her in the morning and in the evening and when ever i get a reply so I think that she might be able to save them if she will listen to me I dont know if she will follow the advice that I gave her but i think she will she know I care and I am only trying to help her.

Fin digeneration is NOT caused by ich!! The ich is probably a secondary infection caused by the bacterial infection causing the fins to degenerate!!

IMO, if the fins are to the point of being totally eaten away it is probably to late for any meds to help!!

Keep us posted though....PLEASE!!

the fish are better now they still look bad but they are getting better just wanted to let you all know and thanks for the help it was the ph by the way besides the ick

Glad the fish are doing better!!

Have her treat with a good vitamin such as Dick Boyds VitaChem. This will help the fins to grow back.

By the way are the fins gone completely (all the way to the body of the fish) or is there some of them left??

If the fins are not completely destroyed they should grow back.

Excellent water quality is also required for the fins to heal.

Thanks for keeping us posted and letting us know what the problem was.
