I read PetSmart is closing all its brick & mortar stores soon. I know some people don't have many local options & I have bought fish & food there on rare occasions. Apparently, they'll still have online sales...for now? It used to be the big chains pushed out the small shops in direct competition, but now it's online sales hurting them too.

I also wonder how US tariffs might affect my other non-chain lfs. Most get fish from US wholesalers but the wild fish I'm most interested in are from overseas & many farmed fish too. Higher prices likely & maybe less selection?

First Joann Fabrics and now PetsMart ? I know two local Mom and Pop pet and aquarium shops that won’t be crying over this news .

Yeah , I looked it up too . It’s not PetsMart it’s another outfit . But on a sad note Joann Fabric is closing the doors this month . That’s really a bummer to me because all that leaves me is Hobby Lobby for any kind of local fabric / sewing shop and I don’t shop at Hobby Lobby , Chick-Fil-A or Scheel’s .

Most aquarium products come from China so they will probably be affected by tariffs.
