Ok when I got him I think the stress of shipping left him open to it as about 2 days after I settled him in he developed it. I've treated with interpret british king waterlife myxasomething salt tonic and some otherstuff and it's just getting worse three quarters of his tail have disappeared now. He's in a 6G with a mini elite filter and 50W heater weekly changes of between 30-50% and I'm out of ideas. So any help would be much appreciated also where to find the suggested treatments too.
Thanks everyone xx

I had the same problem with my Betta and I treated him with Melafix. After a while his fins started to grow back and now 4 months on his fins have grown back completely.

If you read the instructions on the Melafix. It says that it is a secondary treatment for fin rot. I have been told that it stops further damage, but to kill the initial problem Pimafix should be used.

Others say Melafix should not be used to treat Bettas, due to their breathing through the labyrinth organ.

I now use Melafix at half doses in my tank, for other problems, due to me having a Betta in there.

For Fin Rot I use KingBritish Fin Rot & Fungus for a week, then Melafix to help with the healing process.

You are probably right but I'm only going by my own personal experience. I used a weaker dose than recommended and within a couple of weeks his fins started to grow back.
