I have a swordtail who has jumped from my tank on several ocassions.....all times I have found him in time to rescue him......no probs....

TODAY I get home and couldn't find him....so I look in his usual jumping spots.....no sign of him....so I start hunting for a dead fish on the carpet......when I spot him...out of the corner of my eye....in the tank below.....OH....he must have jumped and the BF put him there.....no prob.....so I ring the BF....nope....he didn't do it....

THE FISH JUMPED INTO THE TANK BELOW!!!

How is this possible?? The tanks are 5cm from the wall....the tanks have lids....with a 2cm (approx. 1 inch) gap at the back for filters....the fish would have had to coincidentally launched itself at the exact angle to bounce off the wall and land in the tank below.....chances VERY slim.....ALSO....the tank he "was" in has a hood on top....making it even harder....

I didn't move him.....the BF didn't move him.....there is noone else on my house.....it is the only explanation....

Is this weird or is it just me?

Do I have alien fish that can morph themselves??? :alien:

very strange, imo its a superfish
things like this are what makes the hobby very interesting

  Maybe he's got bored of the fish in his tank and wanted to go see the fish in the other tank, so he's been planning his escape for ages and all the other times you found him were just trial runs.
Have a look in the old tank and see if you can find any master plans drawn up for trajectory and height of jump etc!!!!

 @rvm

maybe he jumped out and landed on the lid and wriggled his way through the gap?
