I have all the above in my tank and they do fine but mine is also a 125g.
I do think a 10g for a yellow tang is a bit small. Do you have this set up already?
A 10 gallon is waaaay too small for a tang. I would love to have a tang but even my 20 gallon nano is less than half the size needed for a tang.
In the wild tangs browse across wide areas of the reef and are consequently fast and strong swimmers. This means that you would need a minimum of about a 50 gallon tank.
Clowns generally stick to their own small area of the reef and therefore are suitable for smaller tanks.
Bear in mind a nano tank is harder to keep than a larger marine tank.
I second that. My Yellow Tang uses all 125 gallons.
And shrimps are very compatable. The worst enemies I had for my shrimp were the larger crabs such as decorators and arrows. Lost one to a green serpent star also.
Yea my tank is already set up with the tang in it and has been for probably two weeks and is happy because he is very small. I have the live rock on the back so that he has room to swim around and use his energy up instead of him not having anywhere to swim. Thanks for the help everyone.
Just a tip, the Tangs like to eat a little all day. Three or four small feedings for him are better than one large if there is not much for him to graze on.
I agree with GL on the feeding....
You can get away with it in a large tank with lots of Live rock but in such a small tank the grazing will deplete quickly
and your tang wont have any food until you feed him. If that's what your set on (tang) then good luck and let us know how
he is doing from time to time.
thanks everyone for the help and i got a camel shrimp because it was all they had and it was cheaper anyways. He seems to be happy but it has only been a day
