Hi Guys, I noticed last night that my peppered Cory Cat wasnt eating and was just sitting on top a rock for a long period of time, he doesnt normally do this, he is normally very active. Then this morning i saw him lying on his side on the botton of the tank not moving, he is still alive and he was still breathing. But lying on his side isnt a good sign is it!?

he has now moved onto his stomach but is still just sitting there.

All the otehr fish seem fine, including 2 other peppered cory cats, 3 julii cory cats and 5 tetra neons.

What could it be?

Please help i dont want him to die!

Regards

Sam

How big is your tank and how frequent are water changes? Are you cleaning the gravel/sand with a vac.
How long have you had this fish?
Have you any tests for ammonia and nitrite and nitrate?
Its hard to say whats wrong as its just the one fish thats sick but tery a large water change and use a vac really well.
The swim bladder may be infected so can you get the fish into a shallow quarantine tank?

Tank is 65 litres, i do a 25% water change weekly, i have just done one now too.

Ammonia is o, nitrate is 12 but nitrite is 1mp whihc i know is too high. Should i do a daily 25% water change to try and reduce this?

I do not have a smaller tank for him either. I thought he was dead so tried to get him out with a net but he managed to move so i left him.

Yes you need to get the nittrite to 0. What filter are you using and how do you clean it out. And did you clean it out just before the cory got sick?
Maybe do 50% in an hour and then wait an hour before testing. You might have to do 25-30% every day until things stabilise.
