I just bought some Pellet food my the cichlids in my sig, and just want to know if it is any good.

Wardly Cichlid floating Pellets

Crude Protein -------------------------- 40%
Crude fat-------------------------------- 5%
Crude fiber------------------------------ 4%
Moisture--------------------------------- 9%
Asorbic Acid (Vitamin C)--------------- 1400 mg/kg

Is this any good guys, or should I return it?

Thanks again guys!

Okay, personally I think Wardley is a bad off brand fish food. I mean, it won't kill them, it is just poor quality. I would have gotten something from Hikari.

Its hard to find anything better than that around where I live without driving really far away.

So, will this be alright for them? I mean what I listed as the analysis, is that okay for my cichlids?

I also have flake food for them as well, but do not have the container with me right now, so I can not give you any stats on that.

Thanks for the reply!

Look in his stockings. He has labs which need lots of veggies. I would like to know if the protien is mammlian or not.

I feed these:

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod...mp;pcatid=15535

...it's Spirulina

And this...kinda by accident  To much protein, I reckon.

Also Nori. Google Nori+fish or Nori fish food
Can get it cheaper of ebay, IMO. Yes, people actually eat this stuff themselves and can be bought in a grocery store  Grocery store is usually cheaper than lfs, but you have to be careful what's in it. Not sure about that b/c I get mine from a local fish guy who orders in bulk supply.

Mine are mbuna, by the way :)

^That?

"survival of both herbivorous and carnivorous cichlids" Survival, eh? What kind of cichlids do you have? Mbuna are herbivores (for the most part.) and others are generally carnivore. First we have to know what you have :good:
This might be the same food?

But this is what it looks like.

my polleni's love the wardley community ten floating sticks wich can be fed to any breed of cichlid but if u want something that is a good balenced food it does pay to ask the store for their idea on what they think is good but u want to go for natural ingredients and try to avoid anything with whitegrain or artifical colour foods as they arent any good for them.
u can try mixing their foods around by having a variety of different kinds of foods as well
it really just pays to shop around mainly i could give u a variety of names of good food for them wich is all natural indredients such as aqua one cichlid foating pellets, or aqua magic discus colour enhancer, sera flora vegie flakes, tetra min tropical flakes.........they are just some of the well known and trusted brands of foods...

I might have to order that, because I have never seen any of those at my LFS at all.

Thanks for those options!

So what do you guys think? Should I keep this food I just bought, or should I return it? It was only 5 bucks...so nothing too steep.

Thanks again guys for the input here!

I disagree that labs need TONS of veggies. They sift through greenery looking for protein :shifty: They are after the protein, actually. IMO, they'd be fine w/a mixed diet. Doesn't HAVE to be all veggies.

By the way that estherae will only get meaner as time goes on :(
Doesn't belong in that small of a tank, imo.

Yes I strongly agree with you, he pretty much "owns" the tank. I am getting a bigger tank, 55 gallons this summer. But if he grows too big and before I get the bigger tank, I will have to sell him.

I know a 29 gallon is really small. I never planned on getting that many cichlids, but they were pretty aggressive. After I added some more cichlids, the aggression level decreased, and now they get a long pretty well, I am actually suprised as to how mellow they are now compared to when I got them. They also seem to be very active and happy. But they are still small so....

I just hope I get the 55 gallon before the get too big for this tank size.

Thanks for your concern!
