Peeling Decorations

When you buy decorations specifically made for fishtanks, does that mean they use a paint that is "safe" for the fish?

I've had my decorations roughly a year and now that I've lost all the fish in my tank, I realized that 2 of my hidey hole decorations are peeling paint. Do they need replaced or are they okay?

I got a bridge thing from Pets at home when my tank was relatively new, The paint bubbled up (i thought it may have been air bubbles) in just 7 days,i had a fish death and then the bridge was removed during that weeks tank maintenance as i noticed it wasnt bubbles on the decoration it was the paint bubbling up. Binned the bridge and will never buy anthing painted again.
