Hi All

I have a question about peat and where to put it.

I have got some peat granules for aquarium use, I got them as I wanted to lower PH, anyway never really used them and now use RO and CO2 that lowers the PH/KH now.

I would like to add a small amount of the peat into the 54 litre tank, it only has an Ehiem Internal filter, now were should I put it? Could I put in a small mesh bag in the tank or would it be able to go into an internal filter?

Or maybe I could get Indian Oak leaf's

Thanks
Dave

if there's something you can remove from the internal filter (like carbon) then do, put the peat in a very fine mesh bag and stick it in there :good:

if not i guess you could discretley put it someone in the tank again in a mesh bag.

Just be aware that the peat will also release lots of nutrients for plants so if your tanks isn`t ready fr that then you may get LOTs of alge growth

Thanks, what sort of nutrients? I have a Nutrafin CO2 ladder and about 1.5 WPG in the tank, along with lots of plants. What would be needed if I add the peat?

I`d say you have a fairly good setup to add peat to....

If you do get alge infestations, have a look at the pinned topic in the planted section and see if you can figure out what sort of neutrient your lacking or in excess of
