Buy some cheap stockings and stick it in that. Beware though, it'll turn your water brown to red and won't work on higher pH. Plus it takes time to take effect.

what type of fish will you be keeping in the tank? Peat can dramatically alter the Ph of water, if you don't need it to drop too far there are some other ways to slightly adjust your ph

i was reading about chocolate gouramis, and it said they like their water filtered through peat,
so i was just wondering how exactly you did filter water through peat.

just Curious :dunno:

You cant really add too much peat unless you go completely over the top with it and on most city water supplies and hard water it will have little affect on the pH and hardness of the water, it is best used combined with RO water which is much easier to shape to your requirements.

The most common way of getting peat into your water is to add a media bag full of filter peat into the media chamber of the filter though just sticking a bag of peat into the tank will also work.

I bought a box of peat granules, stole one of my wife's pair of pantyhose, cut off the foot part, put some granules it in, tied it off and put in between the foam and ammonia bag in my filter. To be honest I haven't really noticed much of a change in the pH but it does give the water a nice light golden color.
