Peas And Me

Hi guys, I have searched the forums and have read a number of posts about people feeding peas to their fish. I have 5 pearl danios and 2 algea eaters. Last night, for the first time, I tried the peas and all my fish ignored them. I cooked them for 5 minutes, let them cool down, removed the shell and mushed them up. When I put them in the tank they just sank to the bottom in a mush and all the fish ignored them. A couple of the bigger bits are just sat on the bottom of the tank. Did I do something wrong or are my fish not into peas ?

Thanks for any help. Other suggests for food or ideas about what went wrong are very much appreciated.

i could be wrong but i not to sure there the right fish? i think it's things like cat fish and plecs that like a little bit of veg? not tried pea's my self but i have used cucumber and my plec loves it?

do you have any ideas for varying the diet of my fish ... if I were them I would be a bit sick of dried fish flakes.

well you can always get some Daphnia (water flea) blood worm and have a word with your lfs and see what they surgest. you can buy it either fresh or frozen

How long did you leave the food in there and what species are your algae eaters?

I feed courgette to my ottos and plecs, it can take them a while to realise it is food though so I leave it in overnight and remove any mush that is left in the morning. I also feed live or frozen food once a week for my other fish - your danios should like that.

The peas have been in for 18 hours now. I will check to see if they have been eaten tonight, if not I will scoop them out.

I feed them blood worms and they go a little bonkers for them ... I would like the danios to eat some veg though to keep them 'regular'.

My other fish are chinese algae eaters. I know their reputation but mine have been ace, they dont bother each other or the other fish. I wonder what they would eat veg wise ? My biggest CAE is always digging which I thought meant he was hungry all the time.

Just trying to give them some variety thats all.

It's only my algae eaters that ever go near the veg, or occasionally my corys.

If you feed a good flake food to the danios I wouldn't worry
