Hi! Sorry but no one is answering me on the one marked "pearlscale stuck in filter" So I thought I'd try another thread. She is doing ok and swimming around and eating fine but today along with the scales that look like they have a red "bruse" around the top of her, she now has developed transparent "doughnut" rings around both eyes. She is in a 2 galon tank with only a galon of water in it (due to the fact that she only has her front fins left to get around with after being stuck between the glass and filter on Thursday. Her beautiful tail is now a stub too! I have been using Melifix and pimafix 1\8 tsp each and about 1\8 tsp of salt in the water along with a bubble stone. I have been doing daily water changes to make sure it stays clean but is there something more I should be doing for her with her eyes the way they are? Any help would be really appreciated. Also, if she does make it, how long does it take for them to grow their fins back? She seems very strong (and did before I found her stuck between the glass and filter intake) I am very hopeful she will do ok. Thank you!!

Hi, don't worry, someone who knows what they are talking about will help you soon.... In view of your comment about not getting any help, i did a bit of research but couldn't find anything that might help, sorry. Just posted this to bump your thread up a bit. Best of luck, don't forget to test for ammonia as a stressed fish may produce more. Hang in there little pearlscale!

Maybe possible popeye. Take a look here...to see if this looks similar to what she has. The article will also help explain further where it comes from.

Also does she seem to be losing more of her finnage, or has it been staying the same the last couple of days?
How does her "stub" look? Is it reddened at all?

Her fins look to be healing well now. Today she looks better and the "doughnut around her eye is a little smaller than yesterday. The red "brusing" looks better today too. I hope maybe she is going to pull through. How long do you think I should keep up with the Melafix and Pimafix? Just the seven days or should I go longer? Thank you so much for your help Fishkies and you too Merry! I appreciate all the help! You guys are wonderful!!

Oh, There is no redness in her fins at all, just on the top of her body at this point. Thanks again!!

Her fins may take a while to grow back.
I had a zebra danio once who lost all of her back tail and was down to a stub. So I put her in a tank with pimafix and melafix, for about 2 weeks, just so her tail could grow back and she had no chance of getting sick. After those two weeks of treatment her tail was growing back great and I put her back in the tank, and now it is almost back to full length again.
So even though her fins will grow back it's going to take a while. It has been a month since my danio had lost her tail and only 3/4 of it is back. So do the recomended dose of pimafix and melafix for the 7 days. Then wait about two to three days and see how her tail looks.

Glad to hear she's still staying strong! :good: :good:

Hi! Just wanted to let you know the eye looks great now and her fins have a nice rounded look not jagged her scales don't look "brused" anymore. I am so suprised how great she is doing after what she went through! Thanks for all the help!! Lisa
