Hi all! I have yet another problem! When I feed the goldfish yesterday morning everyone looked healthy and fine. When I went back to look at them in the afternoon my little pearlscale (she's about the size of a quarter) was wedged between the glass and the filter intake! I took her out right away and put her in a bowl of shallow water so she wouldn't have to work to get oxygen. I didn't expect her to make it through the night but today she is still swimming around and she is readily taking any and all food she is given. She just looks so bad! Her right side was the side stuck to the intake and her side looks similar to how a skinned up knee would look on us. Her tail fins are shreaded. So are her anal fins and part of her dorsal fin. The only part of her fins not dammaged is her pectoral fins. She is using them pretty well to get around. She has got to be in pain! What can I do to help her??

Be sure keep her water fresh and very clean, you could add a anti-bacterial med. to help that heal up a bit. Also be sure to keep her water a little shallower then usual if she has the trouble swimming.

Don't know too much about it myself but I have a Cory with a poorly side and Melafix and Pimafix have worked wonders. His was only a little cut though so don't know how effective it would be on a larger wound. May be worth a try though until someone with more advice comes along.

How long can I keep her in a bowl with no circulation or filteration? Will she be ok in that invironment for a while? Thanks for your fast help guys!

1/8 tsp each medicine? I can do that! Thank you so much! She seems strong, do you think she can make it? I wonder how long it will take for her to get her fins back?

I would add some aeration with her if you can. Or just something to get some water movement in there. This will help with keeping things from getting stale.

like a bubbler? I could put her in my 2 gallon tank. Unless that would make it too hard for her to get to the top for oxygen.. What do you think?

yea like a bubbler

If you decide to put her in a 2gallon tank, only fill it up halfway, this way she doesn't have to work hard to swim to the top.

Ok Thank you! I will go work on this now. I hope she will pull through this (we call her Marilyn because she has a brown spot on her "cheek" and reminds me of Marilyn Monroe! She is very cout! My favorite, she is orange and white except for the brown "mole"!)

Just thought I'd update this and let you know she is doing quite well still (even though her tail fin is now a stub and she has to work extra hard to get around!) She is still eating like a little piggy and seems really strong. Thanks for all the help!

Glad to hear she's still living, and eating.

What medications are you using with her as of now? Still the pimafix and melafix??

I'm still using the pimafix and melafix on her but today she looks like she has transparent "doughnuts" around her eyes. Her scales have looked like she has red marks on her top side. (Like brusing for us only red instead of black and blue) She is still swimming around and eating and she seems to be getting around better than before. I have her in a two gallon tank with only about three or four inches of water in it. I have been changing the water daily and treating a gallon of water with 1\8 tsp of each med and chlor-out. What should I do next? Should I be worried about popeye? Should I try something else med wise? Help please!! Thanks!!

I forgot! I also added about 1\8 tsp of salt to the water. Not sure what else to do for her. Do you think the melafix and pimafix aren't working and I should try something else? I'm standing by if anyone has any words of wisdome for me!! Thanks!!
