Aquatic plants pearling (Photosynthesis ) in the evening just before lights out, does this mean they are healthy and growing.

He he!

Just been watching mine doing the same, have been fiddling with the photoperiod, seems to have settled down now. It's great innit!

No, it means the water is saturated with o2 or oxygen, people often complain of their algae pearling in their planted tank, it does not mean the tank is healthy nescesserrily.

During lights on plants will absorb carbon dioxide and emit oxygen, it usually takes several hours during the photoperiod for the oxygen levels to build to sufficient levels for the water to become saturated with the o2 and its then that you will see pearliing occur, usually during the last couple of hours before lights off again.

But it is nice to look at of that there is no doubt.

Why dont you brag a bit more there George. lol. :p

I constantly see a small trail of bubble from a few of my plants all day. I must have finally gotten things right!

OK. I actually find the bubbles annoying toward the end of the photoperiod. It looks like a champagne glass and the constant uplifting motion of thousands of tiny bubbles detracts from the peaceful world I've tried to create.

Joking - I love it really!

Seriously - There's something about the creation of oxygen that's so satisfying, not just on a "my plants are healthy and I have lots of oxygen for my fish" level but something deeper, visually witnessing a process that is fundamental to all life on this planet but in the tiny microcosm of one's aquarium, that's just cool. ;)

I'm with you on that one buddy. I love that after all the work I have done in this tank, all the ups and downs, things are finally looking as they should. It is very satisfying. there is a scientific reaction happening there, but the fact that I made it happening is a rush.
