Nice pics jimbooo, I think I might get me some riccia to submerge in the foreground of my planted tank. How is it held down exactly, what exactly did you use to weave it through.

 i was racking my brain for ages as to where to get the "mesh".

i live in a little village, in the middle of nowhere. 2 doors down from me there is a little local store (fags, papers, veg, milk etc you know the ones). i walked in thinking i could improvise with something. ended up explaining everything to the shop owner (first name terms, village people!!).

he then said "what about that" pointing at the blue plastic crates he gets his fruit & Veg delivered in. he had loads and gave me one. it is made of plastic mesh and easy to cut. so theres your answer, not that it will help you unless you have a friendly shop keeper to help you out.

i then wove 2, 4 inch long lead plant strip weights along each side and buried the edges in the gravel. works a treat.

Thanks jimbooo, sounds like your out in the sticks.. Do you have to travel far to get to your local aquarist's shop...

believe it or not i have at least 8 within 30 mins drive, only 3 are good though. a bit spoiled for choice.

the only draw back is money becomes very fluid.. :*)

I know what you mean about money. (If only the wife knew the whole story eh!)

my LFS swapped 10 cone snails for a Sterbae Cory last weekend...

vallis cuttings for riccia a few weeks ago... and lets see.... 50% sale on when i bought 3 ballasts, tubes and reflectors a while back as well....

next week they'll be ready for more cone snails.......  :dunno:

thank god she doesn't come with me, i'd soon be right in it..

when i just redid the rekord 60 i wandered round with a basket grabbing this and that, a few plants, some tubes, a few fish, bit of food, you know the proper odds and sods shopping trip. no notice of price tags was taken AT ALL (only happens in fish shops??) got to the counter...

"that'll be £174.98 sir"

:*) oops.

get home to "so whats the damage then honey". (with malice)

"ooh not a lot, about £60 i think. but most of it'll last ages you know meds and stuff, waffle waffle, hide"
