Hi, new to fishkeeping. Stocked new 125 litre tank yesterday after completed fishless cycle.

Stocked with: 6 Zebra Danios
5 Bronze Corys
3 Sunset Platties (1 Male, 2 Female)
1 Pearl Gourami (Male)

Was going to get two female Gouramis in a weeks time after the male had settled in, but the male seems to be bullying some of the other fish especially the corys. It doesn't seem to be bothering them too much at the moment and the bullying is only occasionally. Should I put the females in sooner than planned? Will that help him settle in?

Any help would be appreciated. :good:

from what ive read here, that may solve the problem. But id wait til someone who really kjnows what they're talking about comes on :p
Ive had gouramis in the tank, by themselves, and they've always been boss of the tank.

Hi there,

I'm sure the bullying is only temporary while your gourami gets used to his new tank mates., they're very territorial fish and he's establishing his supremacy.

As for getting a couple of females, mmmm, I think your tank is close to fully stocked, if not over stocked at the moment. I don't think I'd add any more fish for a good while. See how the rest get on for a couple of months, see how you like keeping fish, if you really enjoy it still 6 months from now, invest in a bigger tank and get more fish then.

Good luck!
