Hey all,
just trying to figure out what of my six pearl danios are males and females.
Originally thought that two were females because they have shorter fins than the other four and have very little markings on their fins. But after reading some info on them I haven't sen anything on females having different fins. The ones with longer fins seem to be either more streamlined or more round looking, but I'm not sure? Are the ones with small fins a different sex or are they just younger??

Oh, and one of my fish is missing an eye  it doesn't seem to be any trouble to the fish and it's not looking infected or red, it's just a white hole and it looks old. Should I be worried about this or not?

I thought the females were the ones with the less red markings on their fins. If not I don't know what the difference is because I have some with really bright red markings on their fins and others with not so bright and not as large markings, those were the ones I thought were female.

i was having the same problem with sexing my danios... if they r sexed the same way as with the zebras, when they get a bit older, the females will round off considerably and be noticably fatter than the male. the male will be long and lean... hope this can be of some help... :good:

Well the females are definitely rounder than the males then.. I haven't noticed any red markings on any of them, they have slightly yellow dorsal fins though, and faint blue markings... but yeah, no red.
Thanks for the help
