Hello all, i am new to the forum and really just registered to get an educated solution to this problem. It seems like a good forum thus far so I will probably remain active on it. Anyway... I recently purchased a peacock eel to go with my other spiny eels. Few days after bringing him to the new home I noticed a kinda white fuzzy spot torwards the tip of his tail...and there is also some fuzzies under his mouth.. i guess itd be his "chin" area.. those fuzzies are not as white... a little see through.. so i'm assuming it's a sort of fungus. I've been told to use aquarium salt, the person at the lfs where I bought him reccomended adding about 3 tablespoons of aquarium salt to the tank.. and online ive been finding articles that say I should soak him in salt baths.. and if these treatments dont work than to use some sort of OTC fungus treatment. Now i'm on here to ask which one of those would be the best method, salt in the tank? independant salt soak? and how to do these things properly and what the proper measures are.. He is a really pretty peacock and i'd hate to lose him.. the fungus seems to be in early stages so I'd like to get it early. Thanks to any and all of your suggestions in advance...

Size of tank in gallons or litries.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Greyish white fuzzy patches can be columnaris.
The spots does it have any redness to it like a circling of red around the outside of the spot or a red centre.
The spot does it resemble a caulifower or look creamy white and smooth.

40 gallons
Ph - usually is between 7.0-7.5
Nitrate - 13 ppm
nitrite - 0 ppm
ammonia - 0 pm

His other tank mates are another peacock eel, a ropefish, and a fire eel which will be going to a bigger tank as he grows, perhaps with the ropefish, ropefish is about 9 inches. I dont see any redness at all around or in the centre.. it doesnt look so much creamy as it does kinda fuzzy, but i guess creamy can be used to describe it. The spot on his tail is really white, while the stuff under his chin looks more like a 'beard' than a spot, theres also a little on top of the head and its a little bit more see through than the white spot on his tail. The spot seems to be a little bit smaller after I did a 50% water change and added about 4 tablespoons of salt to the tank. He is also not eating very well and I'd like to know what else I can so about that, as far as activity goes he's not as active as the other peacock eel but hes not completely lethargic either. if hes not swimming around hes hanging around the heater. Im going to upload a picture, he was a bit camera shy so it was pretty hard to get and you cant really see with very much detail so it probably wont help you verify much but im doing what I can. Hopefully you can tell me if i should wait out the salt treatment, or give him some salt baths independantly, or look for some medication to treat it, which ive been avoiding as im not exactly sure what he has and would hate to mis medicate, i just hope im taking the proper procedures....

Meds depends on which country you are in.
UK Myxazin by waterlife and pimafix.
United States Maracyn one and two.

Full dose of both meds.
Hows the fish doing?

I would get using the meds then.

Have you added the meds yet.
