Queen Bee
Fish Crazy
Last Tuesday I noticed that the betta had what looked like ick. My betta tanks are connected with tubes to the pea puffer tank. They end up sharing the same water.
I also noticed one of the 5 pea puffers had little white spots on it. I thought ick. I treated the tank with Ick Guard 2 which is made by jungle. I noticed a couple of days later, the betta had cotton and fungus on his fins. I removed him to a separate container and treated him with fungus guard and a little aquarium salt. He looked like he was almost dead, but pulled thorough and looks great now. The puffers however look worse. I continued with the ick med for 4 days. The ick appeared worse and the little salt deposits now were like cotton puffs on the fish. I had a jungle fizz tablets on hand. The kind used for multi fungus problems. I put it in to the tank on Sunday.
I have lost 4 out of 5 of the pea puffers. The pleco in the tank was the first to go. Remaining betta sharing the water look very healthy.
The white puffs on the puffers got really bad. It covered the eyes even. They have not even been interested in eating. I even put some snails in tank and no interest in them at all.
I have a picture of one of the puffers to show the spots. Not very good pic, sorry.
I only have one puffer left. What should I be doing that I am not? He does have some spots on him. I also have a platy fry in the tank. His spots went away. The puffers are just not responding to the meds.
Tested water. Nitrate at 10, Nitrite at 0 ph 8, ammonia is reading .25 (Wondered if it shows colour because the water is blue right now with the meds in it?)Tank is well established.
Attached is also photo of the betta wall. To show how water is conected to them. They usually do show the first signs of sickness if the tank is not well.
