Hey, it's been a while.

My new venture is to start a 90L Pea Puffer Tank.
I'm asking for advice on what rocks to use for Aquascaping for these little fish. My aim is black sand, planted with some nice rocks to make a nice setting scene, maybe some wood to give it that authentic look. I also aim to hopefully breed these to keep the WC ones from eventually becoming extinct.

Hope to hear about your ideas :D

You could use mexican beach stones which would offer a contrast between the dark substrate and the rocks. Or you can just do grey river rocks... Another option that I wouldnt recommend if you do fish that are bottom dwelling is dragon stone. It looks really nice and locks in place when in a good position due to its rigid texture... Some spider, mopani, or not wood would look good with any of those options maybe with some plants like java fern, anubias, amazon swords, dwarf sags, maybe some vals as well... Just a few ideas. Sounds like a good tank size but beware that you donr have too many males because they will kill each other. I would get 2-3 females per male.

Thanks for the prompt reply! Do you have any reputable sites for these stones buddy?

Yeah I’m after 6 females to 2 males maybe 8 females to 3 males hoping I can get them mature enough to tell.

I have a tank already setup for young If they do breed!

No problem! Petsmart sells some dragon stone under the brand name of Exotica. I used it and it does require a pretty heavy cleaning due to the clay deposits on it. Shops on etsy and ebay also sell it... As for the other rocks, you can find the beach and river stones at a lot of different stores with a garden section. I got l some grey river rock from Lowes. I'm sure walmart and Home Depit also will have it. These rocks will require a lighter cleaning and they are way less expensive than the dragon stone... I got a bag of river rock from lowes very cheap because it was opened and a lot if the rocks had gone on the floor so I asked for a discount. Very glad I did! They put it down to 50 cents!... So, maybe try to find bags that have been tampered with and have missing rocks.

I’ve always liked the dragon stone, but I agree with the cleaning takes some doing I used an electric toothbrush last time not with dragon rock tho!

Collect the tank Tuesday get it setup ready for its cycle. This one is going in my man cave sort of at the end of my desk in the Roma 90 setup it’s been a while since I’ve started from scratch but the fun is what it’s all about
