My first ever born at my house guppy fry (Francesca) had her first ever fry! Woohoo! I am a...grandma?...great-grandma? Well, whatever...I am so pleased.

Wow, I never get over how tiny guppy fry are at first. I am used to molly fry. If I ever had egg layers breed I would probably spend all day staring at them saying "Wow, those are SOOO TINY!"

Anyway...little Duncan is in his (or her) own small container to keep big yapping grown ups away from him (or her). He (or she) looks like a little grain of sand with eyes and a tail.

Tomorrow is gravel vacuum day for Guppyville. I will have to remember to check the bucket to make sure none of Duncan's brother or sisters end up tossed out into the yard.

Congrats. Yeah, I am always amazed at how small fry are when they are born. I describe them as rice grains with eyes. I have guppy fry and a lone swordy fry ATM. The guppy fry are 2 weeks old, the swordy fry is 2 days old. The swordy fry is bigger than the guppy fry right now but I know in a few weeks the guppies will be a lot bigger.

Congratulations on the fry!

Yep, Guppy fry are really tiny. Even when I have them in my 10 gallon fry tank, I have trouble seeing them. I always think something happened to them, and then I panic. )

Anyway, have fun, and the best of luck raising them!

Well, if you leave a young, impressionable girl with a charismatic older man with flowy flashy fins and only one thing on his mind and...well, things happen, y'know?

Duncan is doing great. I put him (or her) into a big bowl with some fresh water and java fern.

I didn;t find any more fry either last night or today. I did a gravel vac (as scheduled) and made sure to check the bucket, but there wasn't anyone looping dizzily in the siphon swirlie current.

I am not surprised. Franki is still small herself. She'll have plenty of fry some other time. And this way Duncan gets lots of attention.
