Just after opinions, thoughts etc...

I have a 55 gallon tank that had been in use as a reptile tank before it was given to me, so after a darn good wash out (which I didnt mind since I scored it for free) I set it up as a aquarium. Now this tank had a sheet of seperating glass fitted for its previous tennents which I also decided to leave in . It goes from a front corner to 1/4 of the accross the back and about 1/3 the height of the tank.

When I introduced the my convicts to the tank they paired up straight away and selected this corner as theirs which as worked out VERY well for all tank mates, as while the convicts come out quite often there is no aggression when they do, they are also fairly liberal on who they let in when their not breeding (the only exception is my a. thomasi aka african butterfly cichlid who is never allowed in  ) When they are breeding they are as brutal as they convicts can be about defending (never persuing) invaders who try to pass over their glass wall. This seems to be an excellent arrangement for them and I am intrigued to see if it continues as they grow to full adulthood (they are about 3" for the female and 3.5" for the boy currently breeding monthly). And the tank has been running about 6months
