I'm thinking about getting a couple of these (not for my current tanks btw) but I was wondering what are the "fair" prices that people can find these.

I have only checked at one LFT, but they were at aprox $40 USD  and that seemed waaay too expensive since most of the other fish are between $2- $10, the most common ones that is

Is this a fair price??? could you guys please post aprox what it cost on your area so that I can look at other stores (at my area) and get an idea on which one to choose. :)

well one place i went to in london charged about £30 for small parrots.

a place near me in manchester sold huge ones like up to 6 inches for £9. (but the shop said that someone just gave them to the pet shop and they had to get rid of them quick)

I'm talking about the small (young) natural color ones, not the painted ones, I wouldn't buy those no matter how amazing color they have, like I thought it seems waaaay too expensive were I first went, I will check out other stores, but if you guys can post other prices I won't mind.

The price does seem a little hefty... I'm used to seeing them between 10 and 25 dollars.

I've seen them for $12.00 to $24.00(US). I believe they cost $16.99 (for juvies) at my local Petsmart.

Occasionally I see a large one (7" or bigger) for sale at about $39.00 - 59.00.

I live in Chicago.

In VA I believe the undyed ones are around eight dollars where as the dyed ones are around fourty bucks.

thanks for your replies, I found some at around $8 USD  and others at $15 and $25.

I don't think I'll find them cheaper than $8 but I still got another couple of months until I get my bigger tank to search for more. It's being sooo helpfull to get an idea of the prices in other places, it really made it easier to know what to expect. I guess that the price varies so much because its an hybrid.

not to mention there's the blood parrots (expensive) and jelly bean parrots (not so expensive).

i've seen inch-long jelly beans for $5 and 4-inch jelly beans for $20. i've never seen a blood for less than $16.

[all prices in USD]

mmm, I don't get the difference between "blood parrots" and "jelly bean parrots" does anyone has pics of each??? I actaully heard that they are the same
