Real bad I havent had this fish too long and I have never seen fungus this bad since I have been fish keeping. I havent had fungus in my tanks since I have been keeping fish either. What should I do treat it with salt or meds. This is a very bad case of it. The water is kinda on the cool side 76 degrees should I raise it or lower?? If I dont start some kind of treatment fast I will lose this fish. I got the fish three days ago so I think the fungus was already started But I am not for sure.

Ok, first of all, what are your water stats? Those can cause stress, which can lead to disease. If your ammonia or nitrites are anything other than zero, do a partial water change.

Ok, onto the fungus. The fungus is actually a bacterial infection called "Columnaries". I would recomend treating with stresscoat, salt, salt baths, and Maracyn. You actually want a low temperature for fighting this disease, as it thrives at high temperatures.

Here is a LINK that you might find useful.
