im doing a fishless cycle and put some filter media from old tank into new tank.
and spotted these nasties never seen them in old tank.
any suggestions on how to get rid of them, and does anyone no of any good meds i can get.
im in the uk.
dont like these horrible nasties must destroy them.

ps the nasties have little tails.
they are 0.5 to 1mm in size.

Ok to start with are they little worms? Or do they look like this

If they are little worms they are probably overfeeding worms and nearly all new tanks get them, Cories get rid ofthem and love them :D If they are the cyclops' then I've had different reports about them, some people say that they are harmless and are actually fed as food but I have a book that seems to think thath they are gill flukes? I hade some in a 4 gal and my fish are all fine so I don't think theres anything to worry about ;)

i dont know if they look like that
all i see is a white thing with a boby and tale.
how many times are those pic magnified.

Dont worry about it. SOunds like what a couple of us had. I just bought a algae scrapper and cleaned the sides of my tank. They have not come back since. Plus my cory cats have been going nutts on the sides of the tank so I dont think I will ever see them again.
