Hi all.
For roughly 5 weeks now I have had a new Platy(female) that seemed to show signs of parasites. It started with a single pin head size white spot dead center of its tail fin. This also coincided with most of my fish having white stringy faeces. The spots appeared to spread to 1 on the dorsal fin, and 1 on one of the anal fins, as well as 3 or 4 more appearing on the tail fin. None of these were as big as the original single white spot.
Now this is where it get a little strange. On advice from my usual fish shop I started treatment with Kusuri Discus wormer and parasite medication.

I used this medication as stated after being told that usually it would take 3-5 days treatment but possible up to 7 or 8 days. Anyway after 3 weeks nothing had changed so I assumed that either the medication was duff or the parasites we not being treated by that paraticular treatment. Time to try some more advice and a different treatment.
I went to another shop that I use often as well so as to have a fresh mind thinking about it. Explained the situation and what I had already done and was advised to try a white spot specific treatment. King British White Spot Control.
After doing a 50% water changed and re-inserting my carbon filters for 48 hours I then removed the carbon filters and began treatment with the White Spot Control. That was last Tuesday. I have treated every 48 hours since and now the medication is all gone,(last treatment this morn) and still have the spots on that single fish and still the white stringy faeces.
To as to this another Platy (male) has developed what appears to be Popeye. One eye has a misty spot in the centre and the other is slightly larger with a greywhite smudge on it. I have the treatment for this fish but cant mix medications.
Are the spots parasites? Surely they should be gone by now?
Any help would be much appreciated.
