Would like to add some more fish to my tank and have been looking at paradise fish and kribs to add some fish with a bit of personality. I feel that I should add pairs but the general consensus is that these fish would get aggressive when breeding if in pairs so could I add a male (or female) of each?

Have no intention to breed them at the moment (as have just had second baby and time is short to set up a seperate tank etc) but might look at that next year. Is it unfair to just have a male of one species in a tank (ie no females or other fish of the same type)

Any advice appreciated
Thanks

Paradise fish are very aggressive and only suitable for coldwater tanks, so they are out of the question.

I would go with a pair of kribs or another fairly peacful type of cichlid.

Hi,

I disagree, Paradis Fish are fine in warm water. We have a male and female in with Zebra Danios and Honey Gouramis and they get on great. We will add another female if the male shows signs of aggression but they've been in there for months and have been fine.

We may have been lucky and got a chilled out male but they are lovely fish to watch. :D

Paradise fish are a very nice and peacful anabatoid similar to bettas and gouramis. While they certinly can be placed in a coldwater tank, the colour is much subdued. The only aggresion mine have displayed is between males and females. I Suggest you just get one male or 1 male and 2 females if there is just one female she will get stressed by the male who will be chasing her amost around the clock.

All I can tell is that when our local fish shop had these in, most of them were laying dead on the bottom or were busy killing eachother. Something gave me the feeling they dont get along too well.

They were however really purdy fish
