Hi all, I am trying to find out if female Paradise fish lock jaws / kiss when being territorial, I have two males that I am keeping in a tank with a divider, I recently bought two females?? that I put together in a 2 ft planted tank they are o.k but they do have a go at each other they are evenly matched but I have seen them lock jaws on two occasions, does anybody know will the females do this or have I bought two young males.
Neither of them have much colour they have no extensions on the tail fin and they are plumper than my two adult males, I did try putting one of my males in with them but he attacked them so I removed him.
I am not new to fish keeping but I haven't kept paradise fish before.

Hello I'm back with an update :good: female paradise fish will lock jaws when establishing a pecking order, my two females are now in separate tanks with a male P fish each, the males are displaying full colour and courting the females with a bit of chasing but nothing vicious so I expect they will breed soon.
I hope this info' will be of use to other's.

Can I ask if you keep your PF in a community set up? PF are on my shortlist and I'm trying to establish acceptable tankmates (lots of conflicting wrtie-ups, it seems!)

cheers!
