I notice that Wildwoods currently have a few Obscura in around 3" On the site it also says "will mix together safely and can be kept with other similarly sized placid species"

now i'm skeptical that they will be 'safe' with other fish but what is the chances of a snakehead of this size taking out a similar sized fish?

I'm also wondering what size would one realistically get to and how quickly do they grow? read they can hit 14" ?

Thanks in advance
Dave :good:

hehe hello mate, well i have had mine from 3inch and now guestimated around 8 or so inches and does not have a problem with any fish, smallest being a krib and a 3inch plec of some kind, yes they max around 14inches, they grow quite quick, around par with severums and things of that nature, little slower than oscars growth, However i had a group of 4 whiteskirt tetra's in with them and they got eaten over a couple of nights,i witnessed him stalking them but never saw who ate them, they are a great snakehead from my exsperience, i would reccomend them but thats from my exsperience with them, he sleeps in a cubby hole with two pictus catfish and a hoplo every night thats funny to see..

Thanks Nelly, great stuff,

Would you personally risk keeping an Obscura with a Bankanensis ?

Still waying up my options atm and I think i'd wait until the Banks was pretty much fully grown before I added another snakehead as from what i've seen they seem to be a little more slow growing.

On the upside atm I have no problem waiting as the Banks is great, managed to hand feed it earthworms last night

hello mate, yes i dont think i would try to keep them with the banks, basically because of what i understand of the banks, although mine were with those mauri but something happened which was not good,
its a trail and error thing, maybe more chance it seems with the mid water species of channa like mauri and pluero etc,,,
