There has been a fair amount of discussion about the fish recently and they fully deserve the attention as they are awesome fish.
Still there are things to consider. First it MUST be understood that this fish is NOT a loach as many believe. It is actually much more related to a minnow or carp, probably more on the carp relation. This means that you MUST present proteins as a food source. Freeze dried tubifex worms worms and protein pellets work well for this. On the other hand they DO require algae and bio film. They are true omnivorous and require food from both sides of the food chain. If you REALLY want this fish you really should have some algae growth. It takes a bit of experimentation but it isn't real hard to find a balance as to algae growth as the Pandas will probably eat the excess algae faster then it can grow.
These fish are super friendly and will happily feed from your hand. While a rope fish can reach this level of interaction it is MUCH easier with a Panda as they really just don't care.
