Hi,

I was browsing an LFS the other day and asked about a fish they had in, I was told it was a panchax.

It looked to be the variety in this picture

Can anyone tell me about this fish please? What its temprement is? etc. the lady in the shop said "it will eat little fish" - however it was in a tank with little fish :(.

Hi :)

This is the Blue Panchax or Aplocheilus Panchax
Size/Length: 8 cm max
Aquarium: A tank measuring 24" (61 cm) with a capacity of 10-20 gallons (38-75 L) is sufficient. Cover the tank well. Follow recommendations for A. lineatus.
Water Stats: pH 6-7.5 , 3-15 dH , 68-77°F (20-25°C)
Social behavior: A lively predator of the upper water levels. This species is peaceful towards similarly and larger sized fishes.
Food: Live; fish fry, crustaceans, insect larvae, flying and aquatic insects, Tubifex; flakes, pellets, tablets.
Don't be surprised if very small Neon Tetra or Microrasbora go missing!
