One of my orange female platies has pale patches across her back, and every now and then she gets a whitish patch that looks like a small metallic disc made up of about 2 scales at a different angle. They go away after 1 or 2 days, but the edges of her scales and doral fin and my other orange platy's scales are turning dark. The fish flick every now and then.
Is this stress, bad water quality, fungal, parasitical or bacterial? She's still eating, swims plenty but she's very pregnant and I don't want any issues with the fry or for her to lose the babies.
Tanks size: 25L
Population: 5 platies (1 male, 4 females all pregnant), 2 sucking loaches
pH: 6,9
Ammonia mitrates nitrites: Have no test kit at the mo so don't know :S

Its one of the half-octagon ones, 40x40x20 cm

Oh ok im no expert,im sure someone will help soon they normally do,

Your tanks overstocked.
Get your water tested.

The white patches does it look like bleaching beneath the skin?

Not really it just looks as if a few of the scales have gone paler than normal and i've only noticed them on one fish
I should get the test kits this week

The most i can do is move one fish to the bowl i have running but i don't want to unless it's really necessary because i don't like keeping fish in small tanks. 10L bowl currently has 1 male platy

Any white eding around the scales.

Water changes, and rehome the loaches.
Overstocked tanks lead to stress and desease.

Dark edges to back scales and some scales look metallic.
Just looked at fish again and my other orange platy seems to have a bleached patch under skin - scales slightly indented. All eating fine and swimming normally, no gasping. Pale patches can only be seen from some angles. Is this water poisonong?
Will rehome one loach but really don't want to overcrowd bowl as it's tiny.

Bleaching beneath the skin can be columnaris.
Black patches on scales can be ammonia burns that are healing.

I think I would treat for columnaris.

Ok, will treat asap with interpet 9 - neither of my lfs sell myxazin

Good Luck.
Let us all know how you get on if you don't mind.
