I have 4 infant clown loaches. One is noticeably more pale than the the other 3. The black colouring on his body and fins is almost dark grey. I don't remember this, so it's certainly more noticeable now.

He is also thinner and doesn't appear to be growing as quickly as the others. Other than that he/she seems fine. He/she is swimming around hapily with the others, seems to be eating normally. Not rubbing up against anything.

Any ideas?

Oh, I forgot to add...

There have been have been no new fish added for a few weeks now.
All the other fish seem happy.
I changed the water a few days back.
All water chemistry was normal at last check.
I had to replace the heater, but the tank went from 27-28 up to 29-30, and is now back down to 27-28.

:dunno: :dunno:

Hi Dorsal, I've got to laugh, I was only thinking the same yesterday, I went to my LFS and saw a few Clowns and 1 or 2 were very pale so I didn't buy. I then looked at THIS web page. I hope it puts your fears to rest. ( I will go back to my LFS and get the Clowns tomorrow.)

Good work :) I was sure he wasn't like that when he came home. touch wood, everyone seems to be pretty healthy, and he looked well

I'll have a look at him or her, but I reckon you're onto it :) Thanks !!!

I've just had a look at him/her in the morning, and colour is back to normal. Looks like he un-greyed out over night

yeah mine grey out every once in a while. usually when doing water changes or when one of them decides to swim into the filter.

The runt of my pack of 3 is usually a much lighter color. They also lighten up when fighting for a day or so.

almost every fish turns pale after something stresses them. just let them settle in and in a week, if its still pale something is wrong
