as most know, i have 2 tanks set up. 1 with my female, and male crowntail, there both fine.

then my other tank, with the betta's i got off soph betta. one is yellow, the other is purply blue and he is the biggest out of all 4.

eveything has been fine, they have been doing really well, both tanks are divided ofcourse.

all of a sudden the biggest one, who seamed to do alot better then the yellow one after delivery,

but now the yellow one is healthy as it could be an the blue/purple one has gone VERY pale considering his colour before.

how is his behavior? and change in that? eating ok? any flicking or rubbing? are his fins clamped? have you changed the lighting or the substrate (can make the color appear to be different...sometimes drastically different).
if hes eating ok, swimming about and looks otherwise normal, i wouldnt worry too much. just keep an eye out for behavioral changes. also, new fish can stress them out for a while until they get used to them. also could be the cause.
best of luck

Have you got any pics rob?
Have you changed his food? I know he could be a little fussy!
Is the tempreture in the tank okies?
Only time i had another betta go pale was when the heater broke and was very cold!?!

cheers both for replies,

ive checked these as follows.

heater working, checked temp with the on tank therm and a spare in tank one i have both came to same temp.

checked and double checked water all is coming back as it should.

no change to tank either

his acting as normal , still eating fine as i watch them all eat,

currently being fed on betta bia gold pellets and flake food,

im at a loss?

also i have loads pics but my missis has put the camera lead in one of those safe places

Yeah so maybe hes just having an off day?
Or could it be the flake giving him a bit of bloat? he was always fed pellets with me (either hikari or atisons) or bloodworm/brineshrimp

they mostly have hikari pellets. just the odd time they have flakes, tbh they go nuts for it????

update too, since my post earlier his stress lines have gone and he is getting his colour back, maybe they were at the divider all nite giving it large?, think some cleverly placed tied back java moss is on the horizon.

update, hes been like it again today just not as bad, he is still eating fine, swimming fine, checked water and temp again twice.

????????? puzzled. im not sure how old he is either but hope its not that???

unless somthing is happening at night that is stressing him?

One of my bettas gets really pale whenever he's stressed. Do you have plenty of hiding places? You can always add more if you're unsure. Do you have lights on the tank? Is it possible the tank temp is dropping over night when the lights go off? I would check the temp first thing in the morning. It's definitely possible the other fish is stressing him out, can you make it so he can't see the other fish? Java moss sounds like a good idea.
