I have a pair of Nigerian Red Kribs. I've only had them a week and had been trying to sex them. They came from the same LFS, from the same tank at the same time. One of them is much larger maybe 2.5" inches in length, with predominately red lips and belly and seems to be quite flat. The other is much smaller maybe 1.5 inches, has much more colouring with yellow lips, then a blue patch then red belly. It is also more torpedo shaped.

Anyway a couple of days after being added to my tank, the larger one pretty much lost all it's colour. It would only slightly colour up around feeding time. It also didn't seem to like the other Krib much and pretty much chased it away from the bottom of the tank though it wasn't bothered by the other fish in the tank. The smaller Krib took to hiding under some hanging plants I have near the surface.

Anyway, this morning there is no signs of either of them. We never saw them before we left for work and they haven't appeared at all during feeding time tonight. Visually we've had a good look around the tank, no Kribs and no bodies.

However, there is this one concealed cave in the top of a plastic ornament which is normally the favourite hiding place of the larger Krib? Is it possible that this is where they've gone? It's very dark and I cant see any movement in there. If they are doing what comes naturally, how long is likely before they reappear? How long should I leave it before I move the ornament to see if they have died in there?

Maybe they are breeding in the cave. That kind of thing happened to my kribs. I had A 20 and it had about 6 caves in it and then both of my kribs went missing I thought they both were dead then a couple of days later they come out with fry at there heels. :D
