I've got a male and female pair of black molly's. Had them for about 4 months. The female has for the past two months been as big as a house. She feeds ok, doesn't seem to eat any more than the others and she is active and healthy.

Could she be pregnant?? Surely not as she has been so big for ages. But I can't see anything wrong with her other than a big belly.

What is the breeding cycle and gestation period??

Thanks

Hey There is a chance that she just eats LOTS! The gustation period is like 1-2 months it really does vary. And are you sure youhave a pair? It seems to me that you do and you know what you are talking about but just making sure :) The possibility of her being pregnent is high and you should take nto action but to observe. This time if you see her have her babies watch and do nothing, OBSERVE so you knwo next time teh signs believe me it's the way to go!

I'm not too up on what type of black molly. I'm new to all of this. But I definately know I have a pair.

She may be eating too much but then wouldn't the male molly be likely to be big along with all the other fish??

She is just generally larger than the male.

Thing is I think she may have given birth but there aren't any young to show for it. She has slimmed down a bit but is now starting to get larger again.

As i'm getting a bigger tank I will have to make sure i have a birthing area for her and just hope I can catch her again!
