hi i have a 15UK gal tropical tank, that i need to do something with, i was thinking of a pair of hardy african cichlids that, really stand out and are ok in a 15 gal, which will have perfect decor, eg, rocks plants, is there any problems with this?

and can you tell me what type of fish i could maybe have?

thnx :)

What about a pair of kribs?

Yep, i would say that Kribs are the only African's possible in that tank, even then its a bit on the small side. Should be OK without any other fish in though.

albino or normal kribs, which would look better.
i think if i had white sand, black rocks and some greenery, i think they will look really good in that tank.

thnx :D

Boils down to personal choice, but I've got a pair of normal ones and they are really colourful.

Completely down to personal choice.

Other options you may not have considered would be some of the dwarf New World cichlids like Rams or Apissto's, plenty of variety to choose from and you could get away with a pair in your tank.

well i have a trio of bolivian rams in my 39gal, so im not so keen on getting more, ive been reading on yellow labs, would a pair of those be ok in a 15gal, or not?
because i know a petshop round near me and they always have yellows labs at knock off prices :D
and i can get lots off rocks for them to hide around/in, the tank already has sand and some growths of algae here and there.

any more replies would be appreciated :)

yellow labs get to big for a 15 gal tank. You will need to stick with some kind of shell dweller or dwarf cichlid if you want to use the 15 gallon tank.

If you want something a bit less run of the mill than kribs why not go for another pelvicachromis species like a pair of roloffi or suboccelatus they are of similar size and are just as interesting to watch breed, roloffis have great colour too.

Multis may not be outstanding colourwise, but they have a lot of personality, and I think they look cool. You should be able to fit a small community in a 15 gal, if the African lake feel is what you're after.

thnx for the suggestions, but i dont know too much about the fish you have pointed me towards, so could you tell me some sites about these fish. thnx

ive kept neolamprologus brichardi's in a tank that size. you could deffo have a pair of them

I wouldn't... cichlids deserve a lot of room! If you do choose to do so make sure it's a good enviorment for them; as much plants and caves as possible... if they start to get overly aggressive you might want to think about an upgrade! :D Bigger is always better when talking about cichlids!

since your new to africans i wouldn't put any plants in with them at first. you can do some fake ones to start off , africans like to dig them up and eat them . if you cut and paste the fishe names into google you will find alot of info on that fish. Read more than one website also and then if you have any specific questions post them here. You also get to see tons of pics of the fish.
