Painting The Aquarium Trim And Hood

My best friend recently gave me one of his 55 gallon aquariums , it basically just came with the hood though.. no stand. i want to get a black stand for it and paint the hood and tank trim, which is wood grain looking, to match the cabinet. any suggestions on such a project? type of paint, procedure, and advice like that would be greatly appreciatted

any sort of paint or stain will work on wood. If the hood is plastic or metal you will need to prime it first.
Leave the painted items to dry for at least a week before using them. Quite often the paint will still release fumes a few days later and in a sealed room can be bad for the fish.
