Painting Stand Black

Hi someone has a 6x2x2 tank for sale near to me for £500 which im thinking of buying the only problem is the stand and hood doesn't match my front room. I was thinking of buying it anyway and painting it black im just worried it would turn out looking poop.
 

 
That is a picture of the tank/cabinet. Just wondering if anyone else has painted one black and had good results. Need to know what sort of paint I should use etc.

I've not done this myself but have seen examples of others doing it well. You just need to make sure you get the right type of paint for the material you are painting. It looks wooden but I have half an idea that its some sort of plastic coated chipboard.
 
I also have in my head the Rolling Stones song, Paint it Black but the lyrics, "I see a red tank and I want it painted black"....

I would have no idea what paint to use im useless at stuff like that

You could always use sticky back plastic.

I done it too an old tank and I found it easier than painting x
