My largest Boesemani Rainbow 4" has a painful looking scale about halfway along its body. It is sticking out from it body slightly and has gone pink in colour. The edge of the scale also looks a little shredded with tiny wisps of white, stuff, which I can only presume is the scale breaking down slightly, hanging from it. The fish in question is feeding fine and still very active in the tank + displaying no other abnormal behaviour. I will try to post a photo on Monday was just wondering what your first impressions were. It's been like this for about 3-4 weeks now as I was hoping that it was just a scale slightly damaged during courtship which would repair itself naturally. Tank stats are fine, ie. 0 Ammonia 0 Nitrite and 30ppm nitrate. Temp is as 26 degrees so I don't think its water conditions that the cause. Tank is maintained weekly with 20% water changes. Any ideas for treatment and cause?
