Hi,

I have just been reading Adam`s journal and wondered if anybody else uses a ozone generator?

If so as the question states what are the advantages and disadvantages of this?

How are they setup?

Thanks.

Stef

used for water clarity and fighting disease/parasites.

not really needed unless on a heavilty stocked tank with several tangs imo

alos can be fatal to humans if used wrong

They are great for water clarity. Can be dangerous to use though if you arent careful with them (for both livestock and people in the same room).

I think I couple of people run them on here but cant think who off the top of my head. If they are set up correctly then they are great bits of kit.

If you want something for water clarity only have a look at running a diatom filter. I haven't seen these in use myself and only found out about them a little while ago in the thread below. From what I have read though they are great for temp use to "polish" your water up.

I used to run a haliea 100mg ozone unit on my old Juwel 180. I just put it to the lowest setting and connected it to my protein skimmer. As mentioned, they kill bacteria, viruses and parasites and also help the oxidizing of dissolved organics. They certainly make your water clearer but, care must be taken as they can wipe out your entire tank and could be potentially harmful to humans too.
