Picked up a box of these instead of plant weights to day (same box and was in a rush)

what do they do exactky and can i use them. if not its only 35p wasted

Generally I think they're used in goldfish bowls (horrible things) as they have no filter and obviously a small surface area. Also when posting/shipping fish so they have plenty of oxygen for the journey. You can use them, just not really as benefiting as an airpump, although quieter :)

I beleive there are co2 tablets on the market, they fizz out releasing co2 into the water
Yep there are. The brand I buy are Sera...think they are the only ones available, well from what I have seen. Cost £4 a pop though.

Oxygen tablets are excellent for moving fish - place one in the bag with them. That's about all I'd use them for really.
