i saw oxygenating tablets in my local pet shop today, says suitable for all aquariums, what are the benefits of them and are they really necessary?

I've never used them, but I've been told that they're essentially pointless. Though I could possibly see them being useful as an emergency oxygenating tool. I don't think the effects of each tablet lasts long enough for them to be worthwhile, compared to the reliable oxygenation from plants and airstones.

I think these are more of those gimmicky, make-a-quick-buck products that aren't really useful. I could be wrong though.

Mmmmm more or less what i thought, thanks for replying, :good: i do have a airstone, purely because i like the effect

Meant to be good if you need to transport bagged up fish on a long journey.

I used an oxygen tablet once when one of my gold fish was a bit lethargic, didn't see any benefit from it to be honest. As long as you have something to break the water surface then your letting oxygen, your airstone will do this but its only when the bubbles burst at the top
