hi all. i own a juwel rekord 90 that contains
5 neon tetra
5 silver tipped tetra
5 pale blue tetra (not sure of tech name)
4 glass catfish
4 albino corys
4 clown loach
3 mollys
3 plattys and one plec

i am SERIOUSLY overstocked due to miss advice by LFS :-(
would it be best take all fish back to LFS and re-stock again.
what would be best re-stock with as a community set up?
i am thinking of starting all over again and doin a fishless cycle.

well, since you have ick in the tank (saw your other thread) i don't know if it would be a good idea to return sick fish. maybe you should just take care of them and get another tank.

gettin another tank is not an option..... do u not think that after ich has gone i would be better to rehome all fish and start over again? what sort of stocking ideas for a 90ltr community tank is there? the whole reason im in this mess is bad advice from LFS wish id found TFF sooner!

If your fish are still small enough maybe you could pic up another 96 or 113 liter tank. I usually find them for free or at least very cheap in the papers. Either way, it's too bad you lfs didn't inform you correctly.

edit:eek:ops sorry i didn't see your last post

yea, you'll have to rehome the fish or at least some of them. Starting from scratch? maybe, but that's such a pain. If you can cure the ick than just rehome your big guys, like the clowns, plecs, ect.

what could i keep in there without it being overstocked? i know clowns and plecs need to go what about everything else?? cheers for your help!

Definately the tetras...but i love tetras and schooling fish  in a planted tank. You could probably keep the platies too. I'd throw in some oto's for clean up...at least three but they are really small and i personally don't count them in the 1 inch per gallon rule since they don't really swim around at all and i'm good about water changes.
How big do the glass cat fish, mollies and cory's get?

i am gonna empty whole tank and re stock.... thinking along the lines of a planted tank with maybe cardinals??? have gone off my tank decor so am gonna change it all as my next project.

whta would be a good community set up for this tank? when whitespot has gone im gonna take fish back to LFS and start whole tank again

you could:
a ) keep two schools of tetras and the cories, and then add 3 otos and be fully stocked.
b ) keep three schools of tetras and 3 otos for clean up
c ) keep one school of tetras and either the platies/mollies and the cories and add 3 otos
d ) keep one school of tetras both platies and mollies and add 3 otos for algea duty
e ) keep one school of tetras both plaites and mollies and the 4 cories and be done

I wouldn't keep the glass cats (get to 6" a piece and like to stay in schools) and you already know about the clown loaches and pleco getting too big for that tank.

hope that gives you some options, I don't know how long you've had the tank set up but if it hasn't been long then you're still in the cycling process of tank establishment and with that many fish you really need to stay on top of water quality and water changes if needed. Best of luck

Phillip
