I need to create an overflow in my tanks as I'm building an automated water replacement system to slowly add water over many hours / days thus reducing stress.

While the system works fine there in one serious flaw.....without an over flow in the tank I have to empty a certain amount out of the tank first or it will flood. This kinda make it not very automatic ;)

Is it possible to create an overflow in a tank?

Ops yeah DIY would have been better.

Thats a great link thx. Loads of cool info on there. Looks like for what I want tho I need a bulk head which means drilling a hole in my glass tank

You can buy a 2.50 1" bulkhead from petsolution.com
You can get a gravity fed overflow from there as well. Do a search, here, and at yahoo.com for bulkhead or just read through the posts.

Just be careful you dont 'do an Ardinal though' ;)
