Morning all,

Got me a Tunze 1074 overflow box for my Rena tank, to feed a lovely little sump in the cabinet. Filled up the tank, started the overflow <spits out salty water in disgust> and then the pump and am having a couple of problems:

1) Lots of noise in the overflow's drain - managed to reduce this somewhat by shortening the hose (I'm using the Tunze 1075 hose kit as the short hose length I fitted to a rigid pipe set up leaked - gonna get some sealant to try to remedy this) but the main problem is the gurgling, bath plughole type noise. Anyone else had this? Not sure there's space for a Durso-like device in there...

2) Finding it really hard to set the return pump correctly - it's kind of hard to reach the pump adjustment, I turned it down halfway but it's still way too strong so I tried half-closing the tap I thankfully built into the return line (pretty annoyed by this point as the pump I bought (I forget the model number, but it's also a Tunze) is intended for use with the 1074 overflow). Now, the problem I'm getting is either the return chamber is getting pumped dry or it's pumping so slowly that the tank level drops and the sump starts to fill - getting towards the max operating level of the skimmer. Do I just need to spend a whole load more time fiddling with the settings?

All tips/help very welcome, this is all that's holding me back from getting the live rock in!

Paul
