Hi All!
I have a quick question for all you plant experts:

I was told to overdose my tank with Flourish Excel to help with Algae problems. My main concern is will this or can this hurt or kill my fish? I have a 90L Roma which is planted and with the following fish in my Signature.

On the label it says 1 capful per 10 Gallons, if this is the case then how much do i put in to overdose?

Thanks Guys and Gals!!

I have used a 3 x overdose of flourish excel in the past to no ill affects.

Basically on the label it will recommend > DIRECTIONS: On initial use or after a major (> 40%) water change, use 1 capful (5 mL) for every 40 L (10 gallons*). I used 15ml per 40ltr and experienced no initial adverse affects to either fish or shrimp. That said I am no expert in the field of chemistry and can only go off my own personal experience.

Worked very well for me eliminating green hair algae, I now use a better nutrient dosing regime and CO2 & better lighting and am not experiencing any algae issues anymore.

Here is a quick link to seachems website FAQ regarding flourish excel > http://www.seachem.com/support/FAQs/FlourishExcel_faq.html

Hope this helps you Wrams,

Cheers,

Bricko

it depends on the fish but there has been very few cases of it happening.

Overdose by 3x daily. I also scrap the seachem instructions slightly and go with the following as it keeps things simple:

On initial use or after a major (> 40%) water change, use 1 capful (5 mL) for every 40 L (10 gallons*). Thereafter use 1 capful for every 200 L (50 gallons*) daily or every other day.

Tom Barr has always advised people not to overdose Excel but rather dose it more frequently at the same initial dosage.

Exactly. he says if you don't overdose you will have the same effect just slower and with no risk to anything else.
