I've got two tanks. 5g and 10g. The people at Walmart didn't tell me that the 5 gallon was too small, and they let me buy 14 fish for that little tank. (I know that that's just as much my fault as it is thiers). All but three of those fish dies, an iridescent shark(which shouldn't even be sold at Walmart due to the fact that they grow to over four feet), a black moor, and another goldfish (blue, whote tail). I put the black moor in the 10, and have 3 platies, 2 females (looking pregnant b/c of gravid spot and size) and 1 male and an algae eater. Unfortunately, my father bought six more fish for the 10 gallon, which already had five zebra danios and a plectosomus. So I have four black tetras and one orange fish (there were two, one died). I've also got a breeder net-thing with one fry (got it from my aunt-- her two fish died but left the fry). The problem-- how do I make it less crowded w/o buying a new tank (no $). And since there's a fry in the net, how do I place the pregnant platies in there so they don't eat the fry or their own?

Sorry for the rambling, but I had to tell someone. Any suggestions?

Also thinkin' about getting a job at petsmart. I like fish (dep. in which I'd work) I'm reading about fish (finished six books on 'em and have 6 more i'll finish by the end of the week) and I can get a discount on new fish, equip., etc. Should I get a job there? or should I get a better paying job at best buy or a mall or soemthing. (I'm sixteen, by the way).

Whew. Well, that's it for now.

You REALLY need a bigger tank, and by bigger tank I mean really huge since people keep getting you tons of fish. You also need to cycle your tanks, that as much as having a ton of fish probably killed them. You said you have an irridescent shark in with a goldfish? Bad combo, goldfish are cold water fish and create tons of waste so they are best kept by themselves. If your family wants to buy you things for your new hobby ask them to get you books or maybe a gift certificate to your pet store, they won't know what kinds of fish to buy for you and as you have already stated they have overcrowded your tanks.

As for working at petsmart, I would like to work there myself but would probably end up wasting all of my paychecks before I got out of the store. Its hard not to want to buy everything (especially when you get a discount) but in the fish keeping hobby its best to read up and learn as much as you can before buying anything.
