i have a 30G tank "48x12x12" or about 30G

and in it i have

8 assorted corries,
4 pleccies mini ones
2 angels
2 gold gorami
12 neon`s
5 red phantoms
5 hatchet fish
4 guppies
5 blood fin
2 golden loach

and a bunch of bloody snails!!!!

now filter wise i have a hydor 20 running with a reverse flow UGF and my level`s are all 0
any and all comments and telling off`s welcome!

First off, the general rule is 1 inch of fish per gallon. And thats considering their final adult size. So yeah, you have way too many fish. How long has it been running? If it hasnt been long, then thats why your levels are all still 0. If you cycled it right, and added the fish slowly, which it doesnt sound like you did either of these, then thats why your levels are all 0. But that doesnt mean everything is alright. You will be doing major siphoning and the fish are definitely not comfortable.

i had the tank set up for a month, feeling the tank etc, befor i added fish and have spent the last few month`s adding a few every week, all apart from 2 corries and the golden loach are fill sized fish!or at least i think they are! going via size guides at the fish shops,

o well just looks like i will have to get another tank then hey

thankyou for your responce

the one inch rule is only a guide... as long as you are monitoring your levels and doing water changes you will be fine...

the 4 plecs worry me a bit though... what species are they?

they are otocinclus hope i spelt that right?

great little things that do there own thing,

i do 15% water change weekly, and suck up what little waste the filter dont pick up daily,

Hi Lance
You really do have an awful lot of fish in that tank
Apart from the level of stocking there are a couple of problems you may have
Firstly angelfish are really supposed to be in a tank at least 18 inches deep
Secondly at some stage you may find your neons disappearing as angels are partial to them
2 flying fox may get aggressive with each other as they grow older
Take care that the golden loach are not in fact Chinese Algae eaters which are nearly always aggressive to each other and to other fish.I have seen these being sold as golden loach in shops. They suck the slime of other fish and will readily attack your gourami and angels.

Thanks Weaver,
you dont happen to know a way of "grafting" a extra 6 inches on to the top of my tank do you?lol
i have notest my "golden loaches" spend more time chasing eachother than anything else, so looks like i am going to have to do some serious fish ID`ing soon,

thanks for your input ppl, looks like i am going to have to do some pruning of the fish or a bigger tank.

thankyou one and all!

I think you would be wise to rehome some of the fish
If those are CAEs they are nearly always nasty brutes and they are unfortunately far too readily available in the fishshops
You can get away withsome overstocking if you are overfiltered and keep a close eye on your water parameters.
I know how you feel about buying fish.Im like a kid in a sweetshop.I really have to stop myself from overstocking my tanks.
You may just go down the same line as so many on these forums and get MTS-multiple tank syndrome.Ive got 6 myself :)
