I posted yesterday about a Eheim 2217 Canister filter that I needed parts for.

I've looked at a few sites and some say this

Classic 2217 Canister Filter - For tanks up to 600 L (160 G)

Now my tanks just over 20G. I know people say to overfilter and understock - but I just want to make sure this won't have any negative affects

Thanks

I'll leave my internal Fluval Running for the time being - So the filtration will remain as it is as the media in the new filter mature

How long should I keep the old filter going?

That's one big filter for such a little tank. Are the fish ok in the current??

A couple of weeks should be fine. I'd also check the water parameters very closely the first week or so after removing the old filter.

Its got a spray bar and I figured If I angled it straight across the surface it wouldn't cause to much of a disturbance

I've got

neons
Pentazone Barbs
a Platy
Plec
Red Eye Tetra's
and some danios

I don't think any will mind a slight increase in water movement - Will they??

I agree with Cheese Specialist. The Eheims don't create a massive current anyway, and a spray bar directed to the water surface should be fine IMO :) If you find the current is a little strong, you could use the two way connector taps to slow it up a bit.

As mentioned already, watch out for the additional current (which Eheim doesn't generate as much as other canisters). If they can handle it, it is great for the fishes! (lucky them!)
